Job Description And Responsibilities

As a Senior Backend Developer (Python/AWS), you will be responsible for the design, development, and operational support of backend systems and APIs in a global cloud environment. You will combine strong backend engineering skills with DevOps practices, ensuring that AWS-based services and integrations are scalable, secure, and efficient. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys owning solutions end-to-end, from infrastructure to code to production support.

What you will be doing:

  • Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs with a focus on scalability, performance, and security.
  • Develop and deploy AWS infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), covering services such as S3, Lambda, ECS, RDS, MWAA, Glue, and API Gateway.
  • Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines, automating build, test, and deployment processes.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve production incidents, ensuring high system availability and reliability.
  • Optimize cloud environments for cost efficiency and performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile setting, participating in sprint planning, code reviews, and backlog refinement.
  • Maintain clear technical documentation and contribute to knowledge-sharing across the team.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in backend development and DevOps.
  • Strong proficiency in Python (Go or JavaScript is a plus).
  • Hands-on expertise with AWS services (e.g., S3, Lambda, ECS, Glue, RDS, API Gateway) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
  • Solid understanding of DevOps and CI/CD practices, including tools such as Jenkins, Git, Nexus, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with container orchestration (OpenShift or Kubernetes) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and collaboration tools (Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence).
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in global, distributed teams.
  • Pharma or other regulated industry experience is a plus, but not required.
